Barca boss Luis Enrique warns against complacency ahead of Roma tie

FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique on Monday warned against the dangers of being carried away by the euphoria created in the wake of his side's 4-0 thrashing of Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium on Saturday night.

Barca produced their best display of the season to totally outplay Real Madrid, but with a Champions League tie at home to Roma, which Barca need to draw on Tuesday in order to assure their place in the last 16 of the competition, the coach warned of the dangers of too much praise.

"I think that praise cane weaken you and at the moment we are immersed in a moment when everyone is praising us, even though I am certain we will have some difficult moments this season," said Luis Enrique, who hopes his side is "sufficiently intelligent to know how complicated everything is."

Despite a draw being sufficient Luis Enrique insisted his side would look for the win against one of his former clubs.

"It is vital to finish top of the group and for that reason it is very important to win," he said, adding he expected a "more open game," than the 1-1 draw in Rome in the sides' first meeting this season.

Despite Barca's current moment of form and the fact that Arda Turam and Aleix Vidal will be able to play in the New Year when the FIFA ban on signing new players expires, the coach said he was keen on seeing some new arrivals.

"When any market opens, the idea is to strengthen the squad and the fact we have players who can play several roles doesn't mean we are not thinking of new players," he commented.

Finally Luis Enrique said he was pleased with the progress being made by Leo Messi, who reappeared for 30 minutes on Saturday after almost 2 months out through injury.

"I think he is looking good and all Barca fans are glad to see the best player in the world back on the pitch. All he has to do now is recharge his batteries," he concluded. Endit
