Barca announce extra security ahead of Tuesday's Champions League tie

Xinhua, November 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Although the 'Clasico' away to Real Madrid is next on the agenda for FC Barcelona, the Catalan club has looked ahead to next week to announce special security measures for their Champions League tie at home to AS Roma.

The club has published on its website a series of changes to usual matchday procedure in order to protect its fans in the wake of the Paris massacre.

Among the main decisions that have been taken are those to close the club's museum, which is situated inside the stadium and the club shop at 2pm on Tuesday afternoon, almost six hours prior to kick off.

The club car parks will also be closed from 8am in the morning of the game, while parking around the perimeter of the ground will also be prohibited with any offending vehicles towed away.

Rucksacks, suitcases, fanny packs and large bags will also be banned from the Camp Nou Stadium for the game, while access to the ground will open three hours before kick off to allow security forces extra time to carry out searches.

The club has advised supporters to arrive as early as possible for the match and pointed out that access to the ground and the surrounding area will only be for those who have a ticket, or a season pass and membership card.

The decision has also been taken to bring the kick off time for the game between the Barca and Roma youth teams forward from 4pm to midday "for operational reasons." Endit
