Malaysia-China relationship at historical best: Malaysian FM

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The relationship between Malaysia and China has been progressing very well and is at its best at any point in history, Malaysian Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said Friday.

China has been Malaysia's biggest trading partner for the last six consecutive years, with bilateral trade reaching 100 billion U.S. dollars for two years in a row, Anifah told Xinhua in an interview.

Cooperation between the two countries has been very positive, he said, pointing to the designation of Bank of China (M) Berhad as a Renminbi clearing bank in Malaysia, as well as the establishment of the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park and China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang arrived here Friday for a series of leaders' meetings on East Asian cooperation and an official visit to Malaysia.

Anifah called the visit by Li a testimony of the commitment from both sides to elevate existing cooperation to a higher level and "an effort by both countries to maintain close ties in achieving the common objectives." Enditem
