Czech Republic sends another batch of ammunition to Iraq

Xinhua, November 20, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Czech Republic sent on Thursday a plane of another batch of military material to Iraq in support of the Iraqi military and the Kurdish armed forces.

The plane took off at the Pardubice airport where the material was loaded, said Ivana Machova, spokeswoman for the Pardubice military airfield.

The Czech Republic has promised to send to Iraq its older equipment that was not to be used any more after the Czech military's rearmament and modernisation.

The Czech Republic has, with the help of Canadian air force, sent the first part of the supply to Iraq in September and December 2014. That material included eight million machine gun bullets and 5,000 RPG7 grenade launcher missiles. It was sent straightly to the Kurdish regional government in Irbil.

Ten million submachine gun bullets and 5000 hand grenades are to be sent to Iraq in the ongoing second phase.

According to Vladimir Lukovsky from Czech Defence Ministry's press, Czech will arrange another six flights to fulfill its promise.
