A man was critically injured after he jumped off a subway platform in downtown Beijing on Thursday.

The man fell onto the subway rails at Gongzhufen Station along Line One at 1:14 p.m., according to the Beijing Subway Company. Line One is one of the oldest subway lines, running between eastern and western Beijing.

He was critically injured and remains in emergency care, and it is not known whether his actions were intended to be suicidal, sources with the company said.
