"Mr. 10000+" returns as Guangdong beats Guangsha 102-91

"Mr. 10000+" Zhu Fangyu returned with 12 points after missing the previous six matches to help Guangdong beat Guangsha 102-91 in the seventh round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league here on Wednesday.

As the first player to score over 10,000 points in CBA career, Zhu Fangyu's debut in new season was delayed to Wednesday night as he was troubled by waist injury.

"It's not his 12 points that mattered. With him we had a better control of the opportunities, and the young players could learn more from him," said Guangdong head coach Du Feng.

Young shooters of Guangsha took the led for the team before the halftime break 54-48. Chen Jianghua and Bynum fueled Guangdong's attack in the third quarter to surpass by 76-72 and kept the advantage all the way to the end.

Bynum led Guangdong with 32 points, six assists and seven rebounds. Former NBA player Yi Jianlian contributed 20 points and nine rebounds.

Six players of Beijing scored double digit points as the defending champion enjoyed a 120-109 victory over Qingdao, while Bayi outscored Aolong 28-12 in the last quarter to win by 91-84.

In Wednesday's other matches, Tongxi defeated Shanxi 107-92, Jilin downed Shanghai 95-72 at home.  Endi
