Russia calls for joint efforts to combat terrorism, address economic challenges

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev called here Wednesday for joint actions against terrorism since his country and France had just experienced deadly terror attacks.
Addressing the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO summit, the Russian prime minister said terrorism spreading is a "truly global challenge" which is against the whole civilized world.
"This challenge requires joint answer, coordinated and truely concrete actions," said the Russian prime minister.
He noted that explosion in the Russian aircraft over Sinai Peninsular, which claimed 224 lives, and the massive killings in Paris are crimes against the whole world.
On the economic sphere, Medvedev said topics discussed in APEC meetings are in twin with his country's Asia-Pacific policies, noting that two thirds of the Russian territory lies in the region.
He called on APEC members and the rest of the world to find answers for challenges such as how to maintain economic development in global instability, how to enhance competitiveness.
The Russian prime minister also stressed the importance of regional integration as the top priority for the region, saying Russia is in favor of preferential trade agreements in the region.
He also said Russia will work with China in the latter's Belt and Road initiative and to address innovation and development issues. Endit
