Albanian customs officials fired due to poor performance

Xinhua, November 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama Tuesday fired three officials at the General Directorate of Customs because of their poor performance, according to local media.

During a sudden visit to the country's customs offices, Rama also warned of other possible dismissals and asked customs leaders to sack all poor job performers.

Rama expressed his dissatisfaction with the poor performance of the customs so far this year and demanded urgent measures of improvement.

In the first nine months of this year, the Albanian customs failed to achieve its targets of income collection, short of 3.6 billion lek (29 million U.S. dollars).

Despite some external factors, such as the fall of petrol prices or the decline of rent incomes, Rama said that customs leaders should be blamed and some of them will be fired. Endi
