Israeli troops kill Palestinian in West Bank

The Israeli military said it shot and killed a Palestinian shooter and arrested two others amid an armed clash in the West Bank on Tuesday evening.

The incident, near the Palestinian village of Turmus Ayya, north of Ramallah, was the latest in a two-month-long outbreak of violence between Israelis and Palestinians.

A military spokesperson said the alleged attacker and two other Palestinian gunmen stepped out a vehicle on Highway 60, the main north-to-west road in the West Bank, and open fired towards an Israeli patrol. No injuries were caused to the troops.

The soldiers responded with fire "in response to the immediate danger," said the spokesperson. They killed one of the suspects, whose identity was not immediately known.

Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that the two other Palestinians were wounded during the gun battle. Israeli soldiers prevented a Palestinian ambulance from approaching the scene and later detained the two, Ma'an reported.

The ongoing violence has claimed the lives of more than 80 Palestinians and 14 Israelis. Endit
