Ghana advance by beating Camoros 2-0 in FIFA World Cup qualifier

Xinhua, November 18, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ghana advanced to the next stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier after defeating Comoros 2-0 in the second leg at the Baba Yara stadium in Kumasi on Tuesday.

A brilliant Mubarak Wakaso's first-half free-kick goal and Jordan Ayew's second-half goal were enough for Ghana to advance.

Ghana, three-time World Cup participants, won 2-0 on aggregate following the first-leg goalless deadlock in Moroni last Friday.

November's encounter was the first ever meeting between the two sides at any level.

The 14 overall winners Tuesday will join the Democratic Republic of Congo, Gabon, Guinea, Morocco, Uganda and Zambia in the group stage, which kicks off next October. Endit
