Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III and Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill reaffirmed Tuesday their commitment to boosting ties between their countries during a meeting on the sidelines of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Manila.

The two leaders agreed to strengthen people-to-people ties as O'Neill cited the presence of over 30,000 Filipinos in his country either as permanent residents or teachers, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. told reporters.

The visiting leader acknowledged that Philippine experiences in climate change adaptation and mitigation would be valuable to Papua New Guinea.

O'Neill is in Manila to attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. Endit
