Dozens of passengers were injured and rushed into a hospital and dozens others were rescued after a ferry sank off East Java in Indonesia on Monday, official in charge of national search and rescue office said.

As many as 172 people have been rescued and 25 of them have been treated at a nearby hospital, the official said.

"So far there is no report of the missing people, but the rescuers are on standby for possible inquires from relatives or family members of the missing people,"he told Xinhua by phone.

The Wihan Sejahtera ferry, which was about to sail from a sea port in East Java for Labuhan Bajo of East Nusa Tanggara started taking in water on Monday morning before capsizing at 9:52 a.m. local time, the official said. Endit
