Uganda Cranes have been drawn to face Mali in the 2016 Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) which will take place in Rwanda.
The draws for the tournament were held at the Serena Hotel in the Rwandese capital Kigali on Sunday in a ceremony graced by the Rwanda President Paul Kagame as the chief guest and Vice President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Almamy Kabele Camara.
Uganda who are in Group D will also face Zimbabwe and Zambia in the same pool.
"Yes that is a strong group, but we shall make sure we prepare well for the tournament," Uganda's coach Milutin Sredojevic said on Sunday.
Uganda will be making their third straight appearance in the tournament after featuring in the 2011 event in Sudan and last year in South Africa.
Sixteen teams including hosts Rwanda will take part in the three-week tournament that will run from Jan. 16 to Feb. 7 in four venues.
CHAN is a biannual tournament which features national teams made up exclusively of locally based players who were active in their national championships.
Defending champions Libya and last year's runners-up Ghana failed to qualify for the 2016 CHAN.
According to the draws, Rwanda are in Pool A alongside Gabon, Morocco and Cote d'Ivoire. Group B consists of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Angola and Ethiopia while Group C has Tunisia, Nigeria, Nigeria and Guinea. Endi
