Two Palestinians killed in clashes with Israeli army

Xinhua, November 16, 2015 Adjust font size:

Two Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces early on Monday when the troops demolished the home of a Palestinian arrested for killing an Israeli in the West Bank this summer.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement that intense clashes erupted in Qalandia refugee camp after Israeli forces raided the camp.

The victims were 28-year-old Ahmed Abu el-Aish and 21-year-old Laith Manasra, and 55 Palestinians were injured by live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets.

A spokesperson for the Israeli military said the forces entered the camp to demolish the family house of Muhammad Abu Shaheen, a Palestinian detainee accused of killing a settler near Ramallah earlier this year.

The Palestinian death toll since the beginning of October has climbed to 88, including 18 children. Fourteen Israelis were killed in stabbing and running over attacks carried out by Palestinians.

The flaring violence between Israel and the Palestinians sparked in mid-September with intense clashes at al-Aqsa mosque compound in East Jerusalem between Palestinian worshippers and Israeli forces. Endit
