Croatia announces Nov. 16 day of mourning for Paris attacks victims

Croatia on Sunday announced Nov. 16 a day of mourning for the victims of Friday night's attacks in Paris, as a response to European Union leaders' call.

All flags on the buildings of government and corporate will be at half mast and all entertainment events will stop on Monday.

The sirens will be sounded for 60 seconds at noon on Monday to commemorate the victims throughout the country, Croatian National Protection and Rescue Directorate said.

EU leaders on Saturday called on all Europeans to observe a minute of silence on Monday in mourning for the victims of the Paris attacks.

Hundreds of Croats went to French Embassy in Zagreb, placing flowers and lighting candles to mourn for the victims and expressed their support to the French people following the attacks.

A banner "Zagreb for Paris" in colors of French flag was displayed on Museum of Contemporary Art in Zagreb on Saturday.

In this symbolic way the Croatian capital expressed its sympathy with the families of the victims and all Parisians, Milan Bandic, Mayor of Zagreb said. Enditem
