1st LD: 15 African migrants' bodies found near Egypt's border with Israel

Xinhua, November 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Egyptian police have found bodies of 15 African migrants who appeared to have been shot dead on the Egyptian borders with Israel, Arabiya TV reported on Sunday.

Another eight migrants had been wounded in the attack.

Ambulances rushed to the northern Sinai city of Rafah, where the accident took place, the report added.

The identity of the migrants isn't clear yet.

The Egyptian government began military wide scale operation since the army-led removal of the Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in 2013 to root out extremists and get Sinai under control.

Despite an increased security presence, criminal gangs in Sinai continue to take migrants and asylum seekers hostage en route to Israel. Endit
