Croatian leaders condemn terrorist attacks in Paris

Xinhua, November 15, 2015 Adjust font size:

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic on Saturday condemned terrorist attacks in Paris, saying his government is now at the highest level of alert to protect its citizens.

A security services session was called following the terror attacks, he said, adding but there is no plan to close the border at the moment.

"Closing borders and erecting fences will not save us or prevent things like this (terrorist attacks) from happening," Milanovic said.

Milanovic has sent a letter to French President Francois Hollande, extending his deepest condolences to the French people.

Meanwhile Croatian President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said on her official Twitter account: "I am shocked by the horrendous attacks in Paris and deeply saddened by the loss of so many lives. Croatia stands with the people of France."

Croaitan Islamic community also strongly condemned the terrorist attacks and offered condolences to the families of the victims.

"We condemn these crimes in the strongest terms possible and extend our sincerest condolences to the families of the victims, hoping that God will give them strength in these difficult times of temptation," the Islamic community in Croatia said in a statement. Endit
