The head of INTERPOL strongly condemned the attacks in Paris on Friday night which saw at least 120 people killed and 200 injured in a series of coordinated attacks, INTERPOL said in a press release published Saturday.

"On behalf of the international police community INTERPOL condemns these cold-blooded, cowardly attacks in the strongest terms and extends its condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims," said Secretary General Jurgen Stock.

"INTERPOL stands in full solidarity with the citizens of its host nation, France, as it does with all victims of terrorism in all regions of the world where no country is immune from terrorism," Stock said, stressing that "terrorism is a global threat".

The head of INTERPOL expressed INTERPOL's solidarity with France, and pledged full operational support to French authorities.

INTERPOL also set up a crisis response taskforce at its General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon, following the series of attacks involving explosions, which reportedly included suicide bombings, as well as multiple shootings by heavily-armed individuals, said the statement.

Islamic State claimed on Saturday morning the responsibility for the three explosions and six shootings in a statement issued online.

According to a provisional death toll, at least 128 people were killed, 250 were injured among whom 99 are in critical conditions, during three explosions at Stade de France and six shootings, one of which becoming a hostage taking, in Paris 10th and 11th district.

Till now, no official death toll has been released yet. Endit
