S. Africa to promote African interests at G20 summit: presidency

Xinhua, November 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

South Africa seeks to use its participation in the G20 summit to promote and strengthen African interests, the presidency said Friday.

The remarks were made by presidential spokesperson Bongani Majola before President Jacob Zuma leaves for Antalya, Turkey to attend the three-day summit that starts Saturday.

The summit takes place against the background of a gloomy global economic climate, which has affected the South African economy immensely, the spokesperson said.

The summit would discuss various issues including global economy, climate change and IMF reforms, terrorism and refugee crisis.

For South Africa, the G20 summit offers opportunities for advancing much-needed global governance reforms for promoting Africa's sustainable development agenda, said Majola. Endit
