Xinhua, November 13, 2015 Adjust font size:

Polish President Andrzej Duda on Friday officially nominated Law and Justice party candidate Beata Szydlo as the new Prime Minister.

Szydlo's nomination follows Ewa Kopacz and her government resignation from the office, which took place on Thursday. According to Polish Constitution, the former government had to put formal resignation on the day of the new Parliament inaugurating session.

The formal nomination of Szydlo's government is expected on Monday, Nov. 16. The first speech of Szydlo concerning her political program is expected next week.

The Law and Justice party won the general parliamentary election in October 2015, obtaining majority of seats in both Lower and Higher Chambers of Polish Parliament. Endit
