Senior official in NW China removed from post

Sun Qingyun, vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Shaanxi Committee, has been removed from office for "serious discipline violations," the Communist Party of China provincial committee announced on Friday.

Sun, born in 1954, was promoted to Party leader of Xi'an, capital city of the northwestern province, in 2006. He became deputy secretary of the Shaanxi provincial committee of the CPC in 2012 and vice chairman of the CPPCC Shaanxi Committee in 2015. Endi
