1st Lancang-Mekong River cooperation FMs' meeting to be held in China

The first Lancang-Mekong River cooperation foreign ministers' meeting will be held on Thursday in Yunnan Province, southwest China, a Foreign Ministry spokesman said Monday.
At the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Hor Nam Hong, Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Thongloun Sisoulith, Myanmar Foreign Minister U Wunna Maung Lwin, Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh will attending the meeting, spokesman Hong Lei said, adding that Wang Yi and Don Pramudwinai will co-chair the meeting.
The Lancang-Mekong River runs through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, a natural link between the six countries.
It is the first meeting of the six foreign ministers and they are expected to announce the establishment of a Mekong-Lancang cooperation mechanism.
The mechanism was proposed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in November 2014 when he attended the 17th China-ASEAN leaders' meeting in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. Endi
