Three people arrested in Lebanon over spying for Israel

Xinhua, November 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Lebanon said on Sunday that security forces arrested three people in the south of the country over charges of spying for Israel.

The trio is a Syrian man and his Lebanese wife, and a Lebanese national, the Lebanese General Security Directorate said in a statement.

The detainees confessed to gathering information on security and military figures for the purpose of assassination, it said.

It added that "they photographed roads and other sensitive areas in the south."

"The images and films were then sent to their superiors," the statement said.

They have been referred to the concerned judiciary, it said, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest more suspects in the case. Endit
