Gunmen kill 8 in Burundi bar attack

Xinhua, November 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

Three gunmen attacked a bar in Kanyosha in the south of the Burundian capital Bujumbura late Saturday killing eight persons and seriously injuring another, a local administration official told Xinhua on Sunday.

"It was around 20:00 (18:00 GMT) when gunmen in police uniforms errupted in a bar known as Au Coin des Amis, ordering the bar cashier and all the people who were taking drinks to give them all the money and other valuable objects that they had," said Jean Bosco Girukwishaka, administrator of Muha urban commune.

According to Girukwishaka, the gunmen ordered them to lie down and shot "each and everyone" and added that seven died on the spot while another one died at the hospital.

He indicated that another one was seriously wounded while two persons who were in the bar were the only survivals.

Girukwishaka added that victims included a national from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The attacked bar is located near a police barrack, but the shooting spree was only discovered on Sunday morning. The unidentified gunmen had run away aboard a car that they stole from the victims, according to local authorities. Endit
