Palestinian woman wounded in West Bank attack

Xinhua, November 8, 2015 Adjust font size:

An Israeli security guard shot and critically wounded a knife-wielding Palestinian woman near a West Bank Jewish settlement on Sunday, in a second Palestinian attack over the past hours, officials said.

The suspect was identified as a 22-year-old woman from Bethlehem, police said.

Surveillance cameras spotted the suspect in the morning wandering outside Beitar Illit, a Jewish ultra-Orthodox settlement southwest of Jerusalem. Police said she stabbed one of guards who went to check her.

Israeli media reported that the guard was lightly wounded and the suspect was taken to an Israeli hospital in Jerusalem.

The incident came as Israeli security force has been increasingly accused of using excessive force to quell a six-week long Palestinian unrest.

About an hour earlier, Israeli border police shot and killed a Palestinian man after he rammed his vehicle at commuters who were standing at the Tapuah Junction, south of Nablus. Four Israeli settlers were injured, including a pregnant woman, Israeli officials said.

The incidents were the latest in a deadly wave violence in the West Bank and Israel, which has claimed the lives of 11 Israelis and at least 75 Palestinians. Endit
