30 IS militants killed in E. Afghanistan

At least 30 militants loyal to the Islamic State (IS) were killed in Achin district of the eastern Nanangarhar province on Thursday night, a local official said Friday.

The government launched operations against IS fighters in parts of Achin district Thursday night and so far, at least 30 insurgents have been killed, district governor Hajji Mohammad Ghalib told local media.

However, he didn't say if there were casualties on security personnel.

IS has been challanging the security forces in parts of Nangarhar province over the past couple of months. Enditem
