Bolivia to hold referendum on Morales' 4th term

Bolivia on Thursday enacted a law for a referendum on a constitutional amendment to let President Evo Morales have a fourth term.
The law was enacted by Senate President Luis Alberto Gonzalez, who is acting head of state when both the president and vice president of the country are abroad.
Morales is currently in Europe and his deputy, Alvaro Garcia, is in Peru.
Should the "Yes" vote win, Morales, who won elections in 2005, 2009 and 2014, could run again in 2019 and extend his time in office through 2025.
The question to be posed to voters in the Feb. 21 referendum is: "Do you agree with the amendment to Article 168 of the Constitution to allow the president and vice president of the country to be re-elected to two consecutive terms?"
Voters will be deciding "the future of our grandchildren," Gonzalez, a member of the left-leaning ruling party, told a ceremony for the enactment of the law.
Lawmakers debated the legislation for some 18 hours before it was passed by the Legislative Assembly, the Bolivian News Agency said.
Bolivia's first indigenous president has won every presidential race and referendum in the past 10 years (eight in all) with more than 50 percent of the votes. Endi
