A passenger train collided with a heavy load truck at the railroad crossing late Thursday night in southern German municipality of Freihung, leaving several people injured, German media Focus Online reported.

According to local police, an explosion took place after the collision, and local police, firefighters and rescue workers have launched large-scale operation immediately.

There were several people severely or slightly injured, and casualties can not be ruled out right now, a police spokesman was quoted as saying.

Local police made no comment on the cause of the accident so far. The rail line has been completely closed. Endit
