France will send its aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle to participate in operations against Islamic State and its affiliates, French presidential office the Elysee announced Thursday.

GENEVA -- UN Humanitarian Chief Stephen O'Brien on Thursday called for sustained and unimpeded access to the vulnerable communities caught in the middle of the crisis in Ukraine after his three-day visit to the country.

According to the UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, around four million people in the east of Ukraine need assistance and protection, while many families do not have access to basic supplies and services, including food, clean water supply, and heating fuel. (Ukraine Crisis-Humanitarian Aid)

ISLAMABAD -- At least 15 people were killed and 75 others injured on Wednesday evening after a four-storey building of a factory collapsed in Pakistan's eastern city of Lahore, local media and officials said.

District coordination officer of Lahore, Muhammad Usman, said that more than 30 people were still buried under the debris and rescue teams were working to take them out. (Pakistan-Building Collapse)

CAIRO -- Egyptian Civil Aviation Minister Hossam Kamal said Thursday that all Egyptian airports are tightly secured and international safety standards are applied, MENA official news agency reported.

BEIRUT -- At least five people were killed and six others injured Thursday in a bombing that targeted a meeting of al-Qalamoun Muslim Scholars committee in the eastern border town of Arsal, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

The NNA said that the explosives used in the attack were hidden in a motorcycle that was parked near the meeting place of al-Qalamoun Muslim scholars committee, which advocates helping Syrian refugees. (Lebanon-Blast) Endi
