Spanish security forces on Wednesday arrested two men in the town of Cornella de Llobregat on the outskirts of Barcelona under suspicion of forming part of a recruitment and indoctrination network for the Islamic State (Daesh).
The pair is reported to be of "Moroccan origin," although one of them is thought to be a Spanish national.
The Spanish Ministry for the Interior informed that the pair used social network sites in order to maintain contact with individuals in conflict zones such as Syria and Iraq, giving their support for them to continue with their activities.
They are also accused of setting up profiles on social network sites to allow Daesh propaganda videos to be seen and shared with the aim of finding converts willing to join the organization and travel to conflict areas.
They were also thought to have directly and actively taken part in the recruitment process for the organization, meeting possible recruits for jihad.
These arrests come just 24 hours after two Moroccans were arrested in the south of Madrid accused of planning what Spain's Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz described as attacks "of an indiscriminate nature."
A total of 173 suspected extremists have now been arrested in Spain over the past four years, 62 of them in 2015. Endit
