China eyes balanced, coordinated regional growth in next five years

Xinhua, November 3, 2015 Adjust font size:

China will coordinate regional development to achieve balanced growth, according to proposals unveiled Tuesday on formulating the country's 13th five-year plan (2016-2020).

The government will continue to improve infrastructure development in the western region while rejuvenating the northeastern industrial hub and facilitating the rise of the central region, according to the proposal.

China will enhance support to less developed regions such as ethnic minority communities and border areas as well as resource-strained and ecologically degraded regions.

Regional integration initiatives such as the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration plans and the Yangtze River Economic Belt will gain steam to optimize city planning and industrial layout, according to the proposals. Endi
