SAS cancels Copenhagen flights due to pilot shortage

Xinhua, November 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

Scandinavian airline SAS had to cancel 34 flights in and out of Copenhagen Airport this week due to pilot shortage in its subsidiary Cimber airline, local media reported Monday.

The airline is not able to operate all flights because of scheduling difficulties and the lack of pilots, the Danish travel industry and aviation website reported.

The cancellation will affect 13 routes, among which are the flights to Dusseldorf of Germany, Newcastle of Britain, Wroclaw of Poland and Aalesund of Norway.

SAS would not rule out more cancellations in November, the company said.

"We work on planning the coming month, and there could be more traffic disruptions. But the biggest challenge is in early November," SAS press officer Trine Kromann Mikkelsen was cited as saying.

SAS offers to transport passengers to an alternative airport nearby, but the airline will not cover the cost of bus transportation, car rental or other surface transport.

The affected passengers can instead choose to rebook themselves on another flight or get a refund for the ticket. Endit
