Slowing car sales seen in France in Oct.

Xinhua, November 2, 2015 Adjust font size:

The French Car Sales Federation (CCFA) announced Monday a slowing trend of car sales in October with a tepid rise of 0.6 percent after they had risen by 9.1 percent a month earlier.

The sale of 161,030 units was recorded last month, up from 160,149 vehicles sold the same month in 2014, according to the federation.

Sales of the country's domestic brands represented more than 55 percent of the total auto market year-on-year, slowing 2.3 percent over the period.

PSA Peugeot Citroen, France's biggest car maker, saw its sales down by 6.3 percent from a year before after registering 47,948 new orders in October.

Renault, France's second largest car manufacturer, reported a 2.9 percent decrease in sales of new cars.

Last month, foreign brands registered a 4.2 percent increase with Mercedes and BMW taking the lead among foreign competitors.

For the whole year of 2015, the CCFA expects the auto market to grow by 5 percent. Endit
