Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on Wednesday urged Russia to embrace international technological trends and vowed to support the country's innovative development.
"Russia is open to innovations and cooperation with all who are interested. The progress cannot be stopped, and this is a state task," Medvedev said at the opening ceremony of the Open Innovations Forum and Technology Show in Moscow.
Medvedev urged the government and businesses to restructure Russia's labor market, calling for the displacement of low-skilled labor in areas of automation, robotics technologies and artificial intelligence systems.
Representatives from the BRICS bloc, a thriving cooperation mechanism that groups Brazil, China, India, Russia, and South Africa, also participated in the forum, where they discussed how to enhance the innovative competitiveness of the BRICS countries on the global stage.
Russian Minister of Education and Science Dmitry Livanov called on the BRICS countries to make concerted efforts to initiate and develop large research infrastructure projects.
The Open Innovations Forum is Russia's largest technological event, which displays how new technologies change human life and influence education, entertainment, work and health. The forum will last until Sunday. Endi
