Ticket prices soar for Argentina vs Brazil World Cup qualifier

Xinhua, October 29, 2015 Adjust font size:

With a steep increase, which in some cases even reaching up to 50 percent, tickets have gone on sale for the upcoming World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Brazil match.

Tickets can be bought from Tuesday through online system Ticketek with prices ranging between 15 U.S. dollars (150 Argentinean pesos) and 180 U.S. dollars (1,800 pesos).

Outstandingly, tickets have rocketed in price, despite the low public turnout at Buenos Aires' Monumental Stadium three weeks ago during the South American side's defeat against Ecuador and the confirmed absence of Lionel Messi and Sergio "Kun" Aguero.

However, prices have stayed the same in the popular section still at a cost of 15 U.S. dollars like they did in the match against Ecuador. The rest of the stadium's sections are more expensive and some have even increased by 50 percent.

Among the areas with increased prices is the part of the Centenario stall set aside for the Brazil fans which increased from 50 U.S. dollars during the Ecuador match to 120 U.S. dollars for the upcoming Brazil match.

Argentina will face Brazil in River Plate's Monumental Stadium on Thursday November 12 at 21:00 local time (00:00 GMT). Five days later they will travel to Colombia to continue the South American qualifiers in Baranquilla.

In the first two matches, Argentina suffered an unprecedented 2-0 defeat against Ecuador and a goal-less draw on their visit to Paraguay. Endi
