Xinhua, October 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

The Philippine government extended Wednesday sympathies to the governments and peoples of Afghanistan and Pakistan for the terrible loss of lives and heavy damage to property caused by recent strong earthquake.

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement that the Philippines and the Filipino people share the pain and anguish caused by this natural calamity.

"We stand squarely and in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Afghanistan and Pakistan and closely monitor the developments on the ground," it said.

The department said the Filipinos pray for strength and comfort for those whose lives have been drastically altered by this event and immediate recovery for the communities affected by the earthquake.

A 7.5-magnitude earthquake with a depth of 210 km hit the Hindu Kush mountain range in northern Afghanistan at 0909 GMT on Monday, killing at least 350 people in Afghanistan and Pakistan and causing massive damage. Enditem
