Turkey confirms IS behind Ankara bombings

Xinhua, October 28, 2015 Adjust font size:

Turkey confirmed on Wednesday that the IS was behind the twin suicide bombings in the capital Ankara earlier in October that killed 102 people.

The Ankara Prosecutor's Office said a IS cell received orders from its group in Syria and planned attacks in Turkey.

The group was also behind the Suruc bombing in July, as well as the attacks against People's Democratic Party HDP headquarters in Mersin and Adana provinces in Southern Turkey, and against HDP rally in Diyarbakir city before June 7 elections, the office said.

One of the motives behind the attack was to put off the Nov. 1 snap elections, it said. Endit
