Xinhua, October 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

Myanmar will introduce electric train to run in Yangon in December this year in order to tackle traffic congestion, sources with Ministry of Rail Transportation said on Tuesday.

In the first phase, the electric train will run along an existing route on Strand Road from Pansodan in Pabedan Township to Htawlikwe in Ahlone Township while the second phase from Pansodan to Linsadawn.

The 5.63-km railroad will be built by Yangon City Development Committee in cooperation with Port Authority and Asia World Company.

The train will run at 30 to 40 km per hour using five megawatts of power provided by Yangon Electricity Corporation that will erect electricity supply poles 50 meters apart from one another. Enditem
