King Kong sequel to be filmed in Australia

Xinhua, October 27, 2015 Adjust font size:

The next instalment of the King Kong franchise will be filmed in Australia, with pre-production to begin in October and filming to get underway in early 2016.

Gold Coast in Queensland state will play host to Kong: Skull Island, having already completed production of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales earlier this year, while the next Thor sequel will also be filmed in the area, local media reported on Tuesday.

The movie will star Tom Hiddleston, Samuel Jackson, Brie Larson and John Goodman.

"The production will create 60 local jobs in addition to the Queenslanders who have already been enlisted," said Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.

Screen Queensland chief Tracey Vieira said the announcement of the King Kong sequel to be film in Queensland demonstrated Australia's reputation in the international film production industry.

"Our local industry is certainly getting some big international credits under their belts and making incredible local content, as well as building the careers of emerging talent," she said. Enditem
