Death toll of Philippine typhoon rises to 46

Philippine death toll from typhoon Koppu, locally named Lando, has been increased to 46 as estimated cost of damage to agriculture and infrastructure also ballooned to 9.4 billion pesos (202.18 million U.S. dollars), the state disaster management agency said Friday.

The fatalities came from six regions including Metro Manila, in northern part of the country, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said.

The number of injuries also rose to 82. The government continued to extend assistance to nearly 300,000 families or about 1.4 million persons who were affected by the weather disturbance. Endit
