Hong Kong's media and observers speak highly of Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to Britain, saying it opens a "golden era" in Sino-British relations.
An editorial published Thursday on Hong Kong Commercial Daily said the global comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Britain will have powerful demonstration effects.
The partnership produces a template for China on how to foster relations with Europe, and will have a positive effect on creating and developing a new type of relationship between major countries, according to the editorial.
During Xi's visit, leaders of both countries agreed that the policy of "one country, two systems" plays a significant role in ensuring Hong Kong's prosperity and stability.
An editorial published Thursday on Ta Kung Pao said Sino-British relations are much steadier and maturer than 18 years ago when Hong Kong returned to the motherland.
The British government has spoken highly of the implementation of "one country, two systems" in Hong Kong in various official documents, said the editorial.
Hong Kong Economic Journal's Thursday editorial said Xi's visit signaled that a new chapter of cooperation unfolds.
Lo Man-tuen, chairman of Wing Li Group Ltd, called Xi's visit as a "super state visit". He said it not only opens a "golden era" and becomes a new milestone in Sino-British relations, but also pushes the international relations forward to a new era of peace and development.
Lau Pui-king, an economist, said the visit created a chance for China to show the national strength to Britain and other European countries, and a chance for those countries to know better about China. Endit
