China's Xinhua News Agency and Japan's Jiji Press vowed in Beijing on Thursday to further strengthen their cooperation and bridge China-Japan friendship.

The pledge came out of a meeting between President of Xinhua News Agency Cai Mingzhao and President of Jiji Press Yutaka Nishizawa, who visited Xinhua's headquarter on Thursday morning.

Calling the two countries close neighbors, Cai said media has been playing a very important role in China-Japan ties.

Xinhua and Jiji enjoy long-term exchanges and cooperation, Cai said, vowing to facilitate closer contacts with Japanese media including Jiji, share development experience and bridge China-Japan friendship.

Yutaka Nishizawa appreciated Xinhua's development, expressing his hope to cement exchanges and cooperation with Xinhua, and jointly boost bilateral friendship. Endi
