Delhi police announces cash reward for evidence against corrupt cops

In a bid to make the force graft-free, Delhi Police has announced cash reward to people who will provide "actionable" evidence against any corrupt cop.
"We are starting a new scheme under which anyone who gives actionable audio/video evidence against any police personnel involved in corrupt practices will be given a reward of 25,000 rupees (400 U.S. dollars)," Delhi Police chief B.S. Bassi told the media Tuesday.
The scheme was announced after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal slammed the police force on the basis of the findings of a new survey on corruption.
Delhi Police comes under the central government and Kejriwal has often been attacking the force in what is being seen by many as an attempt to take over control.
The Chief Minister had recently urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to give him control of the Delhi Police for one year on a experimental basis in the wake of gangrapes of two minor girls in the Indian capital last week. Endit
