Barcelona beats BATE Borisov 2-0 in Champions League

Xinhua, October 21, 2015 Adjust font size:

Ivan Rakitic scored twice to help UEFA Champions League holders Barcelona beat BATE Borisov from Belarus to top Group E in Belarusian Borisov on Tuesday night.

Even without injured Lionel Messi, Barcelona created a host of chances but Belarusian goalkeeper Sergey Chernik kept them at bay.

Rakitic, who replaced the injured Sergi Roberto, found the top corner from 20 yards after half-time. Then Neymar helped Rakitic take the second goal.

Barcelona now lead Group E with seven points from three games, followed by Bayer Leverkusen (4), BATE Borisov (3) and Roma (2). Endi
