Head coach of the Zambia national soccer team George Lwandamina has summoned three more players to beef up his squad ahead of a 2016 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Mozambique, the country's soccer governing body said on Tuesday.
The trainer has summoned midfielder Mwape Mwelwa who plays for Zambia premier league leaders Zesco United, striker Moses Phiri of Zanaco and Mwila Phiri, a midfielder from another premier league club Green Eagles for the first round second leg CHAN qualifier away in Maputo on Sunday.h "The door is open to any player who proves to be worthwhile. This competition being for locally based players means we have a large pool of players to select from," he said, in a statement posted on the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) website.
The Chipolopolo defeated Mozambique 3-0 in the first leg played on Sunday at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola city on the Copperbelt Province with all the goals coming in the second half after a barren first half.
Zambia scored through the league top scorer Winstone Kalengo, teenage sensation Conlyde Luchanga who scored on his debut for the national team and another striker Spencer Sautu.
Despite the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations champions carrying a 3-0 advantage, the trainer has urged his players to put behind the victory and concentrate on the next game.
The team is currently in camp in Lusaka, the country's capital, for its training sessions ahead of departure on Friday. Endi
