U.S. says deplores violation of Finnish airspace

The United States Embassy in Helsinki in a Tuesday statement deplored the violation of Finnish airspace by two U.S. military aircraft in August 2015.

Two U.S. C-17 transports were on their way from Estonia to the United States and remained in Finnish airspace 10 minutes each on Aug. 23, according to a description of the incident by Finnish Border Guard.

They penetrated Finnish airspace reaching 20 km between the Hanko peninsula and the Aaland islands. Finland said they did not infringe the demilitarized zone of the Aaland islands. Endit
