The changed position of overseas NGOs in China's poverty alleviation

As China has become the world's second largest economy, it has to take on more responsibility in the international property alleviation and development field. The Chinese government and civil organizations have to respond to their new responsibility to introduce Chinese successful cases and achievements in poverty alleviation and humanitarian assistance to the international community, in order to contribute to accumulating global poverty reduction experience. Cooperation with experienced international organizations and overseas NGOs working in China could utilize their advantages in summarizing experiences and various ways of sharing, and finally help spread the Chinese experience to more regions with a more internationalized perspective and sharing method, which will benefit people and communities in other developing countries.

Chinese strategies, no matter whether it be the "Belt and Road" strategy or the "Going Global" strategy, are exploring a cooperative win-win path to promote mutual development and achieve mutual prosperity. Recently, President Xi Jinping attended U.N. 70th anniversary summits and disclosed several significant poverty alleviation initiatives, that China will provide developing countries with 100 poverty alleviation projects, 100 agricultural projects as well as other measures to promote the new agenda. These peaceful and friendly initiatives aim to increase understanding and enhance communications China has to build up civil organizations with Chinese local knowledge and positions as well as understanding of international development in order to assist the government in undertaking its responsibilities.. As these civil organizations "going global", international organizations and foreign civil societies could help promote communication, establish cooperation platforms, and provide dialogue channels.

President Xi's attendance at the 2015 Poverty Reduction and Development Forum, has demonstrated the Chinese government's determination and confidence in winning the fight against poverty. Meanwhile it is also an active response to the UN's post-2015 development agenda, showing China's responsibility and intensions to strengthen international cooperation on poverty alleviation, and shares related experience. From the global sustainable development perspective, international organizations and foreign NGOs should also engage in a more active response to the external environment changes, adjust their orientation, and take full advantage of their features and strength, in order to make more contributions to ending poverty and promoting a common development path for all humankind.
