China, Interpol pledge closer anti-corruption cooperation

Xinhua, October 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Senior Chinese officials met with Interpol's Secretary-general Jurgen Stock on Friday and the two sides pledged to boost cooperation on fight against corruption.

Briefing Stock on the situation of China's anti-corruption fight, Zhao Hongzhu, member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, said China stands ready to work with Interpol to combat transnational crime, including corruption.

China's efforts to trace fugitives and recover their illegal proceedings have won more and more understanding and support from the international community, according to Zhao, who is also deputy head of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Hailing China's achievement in fighting corruption, Stock said the CPC as well as President Xi Jinping is playing a leading role in global governance and anti-corruption efforts.

Interpol will firmly cooperate with China on fighting corruption, Stock said.

Guo Shengkun, State Councilor and Public Security Minister, also met with the head of Interpol.

Guo said China is willing to work with Interpol to promote international cooperation on anti-terrorism, cyber security, fighting against transborder crimes as well as hunting down fugitive suspects and recovering the booties. Endit
