Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao on Friday attended activities marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) in Beijing.

Li conveyed congratulations to the WPK on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China(CPC).

He commended the achievements made by the people of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) under the leadership of the WPK.

The CPC and the Chinese government attach great importance to the traditional friendship with the DPRK, he said.

China is ready to deepen communication and cooperation with the DPRK from a long-term perspective, he said, calling for peace, stability and development of the region.

DPRK's Ambassador to China Ji Jae Ryong said the DPRK values the traditional friendship with China, and is willing to work with China to push forward their relationship.

Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, arrived in Pyongyang on Friday to attend the activities marking WPK's founding anniversary and will pay an official friendly visit to the DPRK. Endi
