Eurozone house prices up by 1.1 pct in Q2

House prices rose by 1.1 percent in the euro area and by 2.3 percent in the European Union (EU) in the second quarter of 2015 compared with the same quarter the previous year, Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU, said on Thursday.

Compared with the first quarter of 2015, house prices rose by 1.2 percent in the 19-member euro area and by 1.3 percent in the 28-member EU.

Among the member states, the highest annual increases in house prices were recorded in, Sweden (13.0 percent), Hungary (11.9 percent), Ireland (10.7 percent) and Estonia (10.5 percent), and the largest falls in Latvia (minus 4.4 percent), Italy (minus 3.0 percent), and France (minus 2.2 percent).

The highest quarterly increases were recorded in Cyprus, Austria, Denmark and Spain, while falls were observed in Romania, Malta and Italy. Endit
